Welcome!
Whatever your background, church or no church, you are always welcome at RBC. When you come by on a Sunday you will find a mixed group of young and old, men and women, quiet and loud.
We gather on Sunday morning to worship the risen Lord, Jesus Christ. He is the way the truth and the life and we believe that He is the hope of our nation! Come along and hear the message of life that changes everything!
How should I dress?
Someone will greet you at the front door and hand you a small flyer telling you of a few of the activities of RBC. You may sit wherever you like, the pews are equally uncomfortable whether you are on the right, the left, or dead center.
You shouldn’t worry, there are no seats that are designated for certain people.
What does a typical gathering have?
We spend some time at the start singing, the words are always up on the video screen and you may join in as you feel comfortable. The children are with us for the start of the service, and are welcome to hang out in the pillows up front. At the end of the singing, the kids are off to “Kid Tough” in the small hall and back hall. For the adults, the teaching of God’s Word begins.
We always open the Bible which you can find near your seat and up on the video screen. At the end of the teaching we have a time for the people of the church to give their financial offerings. Communion, the ancient ritual of remembering Jesus’ sacrifice, then takes place for the believer, a final song and then you’re invited for Irn Bru, coffee, or tea!
How long will the service be?
The 9:00am gathering lasts one hour.
The 11:00am gathering lasts anywhere from one hour and fifteen minutes to one hour and thirty minutes.
What basics do we believe?
1. That God’s glory is the foundation
John 17:24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
2. Sin is lawlessness and we are all guilty
1John 3:4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.
Rom. 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
3. God’s gift of grace through Jesus Christ is the key
Eph. 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
4. The Bible is God’s word to us
2Tim. 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
5. For those who belong to Jesus Christ, no more death
Rev. 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
What happens at the end of service?
When we wrap things up, we have an informal time where you are invited for some coffee, tea or irn bru. It’s a great time to have a chat and make some new friends.
What are our pastors like?
Brian, our teaching pastor, is 43, married to Shauna for nineteen years, and currently has six children ages newborn to 10. Originally from the state of Oregon on the West coast of the United States, he now calls Renfrew home. Outgoing and relaxed, he is passionate to follow Jesus Christ and longs to see the church make a tangible impact on the town of Renfrew through the preaching of the gospel and serving the community.
Iain, better known as Kenco, is our Associate Pastor. He is 26 and married to Lyndsay. They arrived at the church in 2009, and in July 2011 Kenco began as Associate Pastor at RBC. He is passionate to see other people get to know the God He loves and live closely with Him. He is also a sport nut! So if you ever find his chat is running dry, just ask him about sport… any sport!
